Nude & My Lips but Better

Lets face it – being asian I normally have a pretty difficult time trying to find nude lipsticks and gloss to suit my skin tone.  I know my sister has the same issue too (first world problems really..) as she is always complaining to me about it.

I’m slightly olive/yellow and during summer I can get pretty dark (depending on how well I hide from the sun) so a basic ‘nude’ lipstick that suits most Caucasian people can make me look like I’ve just stepped out of Jersey Shore.

It’s taken me years to find the perfect ‘My Lips but Better’ (MLBB) colors.  After watching From Head to Toe’s Youtube tutorial, I thought I would also share my favourite MLBB lipsticks and gloss.

The colors that I have picked are quite universal on all skin tones including asian skin tones!  So hopefully you won’t have to look any further than this blog post to find your perfect lip shade!

Too Faced La Creme – Believe

This has got to possibly be one of the creamiest lipsticks that I own.  The formula glides on so smoothly.  Not only is it moisturising, but the lipstick colour itself is a beautiful warm peach/pink colour.  Gorgeous warm tone for an olive complexion.  Although peachy, it’s a very natural looking color.

MAC Lipstick – Shanghai Spice

Every girl should own at least one MAC lipstick in their collection – let the colour you own be the ‘Shanghai Spice’.  With a hint of coral, this colour looks just gorgeous on a bare face!

Klara Lipstick – Naked Beige

This is a new favourite in my collection.  Although the photos shows a very pale pink, it is actually a little bit matte and darker when you hold it up close.  Klara have done well with the new makeup line & the lipsticks are fantastic!  Make sure you also get your hands on their Kiss Proof Lipstick – matte and literally will not budge!

NYX Butter Gloss – Creme Brûlée

My all time FAVOURITE gloss!  I really have to try and stop myself from licking my lips after I have applied the Butter Gloss.  The scent is delicious!  It goes on matte and the colour is surprisingly very natural.   It’s more of a pink based colour and I’ve found this goes really well on top of Urban Decay’s Glide on Lip Pencil in Midnight Cowboy.  Extremely long lasting and SO affordable!

Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss – Illume

I’ve got the deluxe sample size in a gift bag not too long ago and it’s the perfect size to pop into my back pocket.  It’s slightly sparkly (what girl doesn’t love sparkles?!) and looks gorgeous on top of most nude lip colors.

Urban Decay Lip Junkie – Streak

Again, I only managed to get my hands on this not long ago on sale for $5 on the Urban Decay website.  FIVE DOLLARS???  YES PLEASE!  The formula is light weight and not sticky – glides on like a dream.  The colour has a pink undertone and looks perfect on it’s own or on top of a lippie.

Elf Luscious Liquid Lipstick – Baby Lips

Lastly, the cheapest yet most luscious lipgloss you could ever get your hands on.  This twist liquid lippie has a yummy peppermint scent and I’ve noticed the colour lasts awhile.  I would recommend using this on it’s own rather than on top of a lipstick as the colour is quite dramatic for a ‘liquid gloss’.  Do yourself a favour and jump on iHerb and discover HOW CHEAP this is!

What are you favourite nude lipsticks and lipgloss? Do you have any recommendations for me to try out?
